Islamic Militants are out to change YOUR life
Don't kid yourself, they're trying to take control of the world at the point of a sword, because their religion demands it. Something about converting at the point of a sword?
The nice thing about Christianity is that Christ said to "go into the world and preach the gospel to all nations," and the belief in Christ is sufficient to achieve salvation.
Christ didn't say go and forceably convert the world, he didn't say fight a holy war against unbelievers and kill them if they didn't accept him, he said to preach the gospel - spread the good news and let God's grace flow to believers and unbelievers alike.
Unfortunately, there are those Christians who would add a political component, the "liberation theology" crowd who seem to be really marxists under their religious robes. The fire and brimstone types who call for the U.S. to blast the world into their form of christianity also could fall into that category.
The problem with both theologies is that they are so hung up on "free will" that they forget that God is the one who calls people to repentence and the free will is man's ability to ignore Him.
I live in a state where over half of the people claim no religion although many will profess a belief in God. This state is where the Methodism got its start in America. You can hear God Bless America sung in churches, and ball games.
In many towns there are 2 or 3 Methodist churches, but somewhere the Methodist on the street lost his connection to non-believers. Originally a Lutheran style reform of the Church of England, Methodism, as a religion has already undergone its own "reformation" as there are now churches that claim to preach a purer form of John Wesley's doctrines - Paul's Justification by Faith.
As I read them, Christ's words were to "Preach the Gospel" to the world, and that includes Justification by Faith. There's a special place in my heart for all Christian missionaries who go out to the unsaved and unchurched peoples around the nation and the world and tell them that there a loving God who wants you to be saved.
Many in our military get it - they're professing Christians and they spread the american style of Gospel whenever and however they can.
You wonder if most of the unreligious anti-war crowd does believe in anything higher than what they can get on Friday and Saturday night?
