Just finished Ann Coulter's Godless
I can remember an attempt by some Christian groups to have "Ethical Humanism" banned from the public schools because it was turning into a form of religious belief.
Ann Coulter has grabbed headlines lately by taking on an evolution of Ethical Humanism, the Church of Darwin, and their hold on public education and exposing it for what it truly is, a form of fascism that does not allow any sort of dissent from those who fail to believe in a theory connecting humans with all kinds of animals.
Those who took the New York Regent's exams in the 60's will remember "Oncology recapitulates phylogeny."
That was the early Darwinist statement that since human birth began with the splitting of a single cell [like the Amoeba] and developed into a human after many months of working through the various animals. The problem is that human babies, as they develop, don't resemble fish, or bivalves, or canines, or even great apes. The work a logical progression towards the human baby and are very human-like at 6 months. So much for ORP.
While I believe there is a creator God who started it all - there's even a theory that mirrors creation, the Big Bang, I also agree with the Notre Dame religion prof who said that evolution was how God created everything. I'm not sure if it all still fits, I'll have to think on all that a bit more, but I digress....
There is lot for the liberal mind to dislike about Godless but I think the last chapter, with its explanation of the Darwinists link with the German Fascists of the 30's and 40's really shows who wants truly free expression and belief.
It certainly isn't today's ranting pack of liberal bloggers, or the educators who think they are smarter than the rest of us.
Makes you wonder why we turn so much of our tax dollars over to these religious zealots while banning any trace of Christianity, Judaism, or any other formal religion from our public places.
