What's Wrong with Ron Paul?

I know I'm going to stick my foot in this and probably come off a little confused, but here goes:

I have more than a few problems with Ron Paul as a candidate for the Presidency regardless of what party label he's running under.

Libertarian? I guess, but he's been in the belly of the beast, the Congress for a long time, and he seems to get along, and go along with many big government ideas. His message has a Libertarian spin, and he quotes the Constitution OK, but a Libertarian doesn't stand idly by while someone massacres millions of people...

Republican? I'm not sure he always sees government as the biggest problem. Maybe he does, but he's been able to get re-elected to Congress, and that takes a little "bringing home the bacon" in the home district.

Independent - perish the thought. The last white haired conservative independent who tried to "shake up" the GOP led to 8 years of William Jefferson Clinton. If you really like the present regime, support a Ron Paul third party campaign.

Then there are all the Democrat cross over voters in Iowa who came in voting for Ron Paul.

Remember when Rush called on Republicans to re-register as Democrats to keep Hillary in the race? Well, the Democrats have been doing that in Iowa and New Hampshire for years! Apparently, they did it again in Iowa.

But what concerns me most is his apparent age.

Ron Paul looks old, maybe older than any other candidate in the race. His grizzled features and white hair do lend an air of toughness and experience, but so did John McCain's white hair. If you don't believe that good looks carries elections, look at Nixon-Kennedy and the first TV debate.

If you heard the debate, Nixon won, but if you were a teenage girl (or their mother) Kennedy was oh so good looking, even "cute.".

With all his Chicago tricks, Barrack H. Obama is going to be hard enough to beat without ceding the "pretty boy" factor regardless of who is nominated this Summer.
